Farewell 2021: A Year in Review

It’s difficult to believe we’ve reached the end of another year, our second trip around the sun in the midst of an ongoing pandemic that has dramatically changed the way we live and work.

These are challenging times for all businesses, testing our ability to adapt, to think outside the box, and to dig deep into our reserves of resilience. While the past year has been difficult in many ways, we come to this point with a new optimism, borne out of the knowledge that we have met, and continue to meet, these challenges head on.

It’s been an incredibly busy year here at Frontline and one in which we have continued to move the business forward despite difficult circumstances. It’s been encouraging to see the print and display sector rebounding after lockdown, affirming our instinct that businesses would turn to tried and trusted marketing methods to help them navigate their way out of a crisis.

Record Sales

In October, we saw our highest month-on-month sales ever in line with an upward curve of sales, but this additional demand hasn’t been without its problems! Due to an overall shortage of product within the sector, October’s record-breaking sales resulted in us selling completely out of some products, with a number of our most popular items currently on back order until January.

But in the midst of all adversity, there is opportunity, and we’re using this lesson as a force for change. Going forward, we’re making it our mission to champion Canadian manufacturing, reducing our reliance on imports from the Far East and cutting our carbon footprint in the process!

While our normal day-to-day activities have continued, we’ve also been busy behind the scenes on some additional projects for the print side of our business. We rebranded and relaunched the Frontline website, and on the back of this we saw THREE side projects coming to life.

New Ventures

The first is the relaunch and expansion of our Frontline Statement B2C program, which has seen us developing a core range of printed banners and other marketing tools designed to help our customers get a head start on sales.

We also launched our SiteWrap product, which is a printed mesh building wrap designed to improve safety, security and aesthetics on construction sites while helping contractors to maximize their marketing clout. We’re looking forward to developing this product further in 2022, and exploring more and more uses in other sectors including education, retail and sports.

Last but by no means least, we were very proud to unveil the newest addition to the Frontline brand family, Berg+Olsson, which specializes in architectural films offering innovation and cost-effectiveness for the hospitality sector as well as many other commercial and domestic applications. Keep your eyes peeled for more details in the New Year.

Supporting Where it Matters

We’d like to wrap up this final blog of 2021 with a few words about the success of our SwiftScreen line, specifically our divider and barrier solutions, which were launched in 2020 in response to Covid-19 and have gone on to exceed our wildest expectations in terms of uptake.

We are privileged to be supporting the life-saving work of physicians right across the University Hospitals Network, and extremely proud of the role that our Swiftscreen products are playing in facilitating the ongoing safe care of people who simply cannot wait for this storm to pass before receiving healthcare treatment. For us as a business it is always wonderful to have our products in demand, but even better to know that they are making a real difference to such a vital sector of our communities.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank every one of our customers, and also our dedicated and hardworking team, for all of your support throughout 2021. We wish you a restful and safe holiday season, and we are very much looking forward to working with you again in 2022, whatever it may bring!

Our offices will be closed from December 24-28 inclusive, and also on January 3, reopening on Tuesday, January 4 at 8am. If you have any queries during that time please email us and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
