For those of us in the northern hemisphere, this week marks winter solstice, or the first day of winter. For many, winter is already here, and for those in the Buffalo NY area, they are perhaps still digging themselves out of their historic November snowstorm which saw up to 6 feet of snow fall over a few days.
This winter will be different from those in recent memory, however. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted life worldwide and, in an attempt to slow the spread of the disease, many governments introduced social distancing, including staying at least 6 feet (2 meters) away from anyone outside one’s household. Winter activities, including seasonal gatherings were, in many instances, not feasible with many families confined to their own company.
As we move into 2023, with most restrictions lifted, we expect to see the return of more human interaction and face-to-face events. Pent up desire for human interaction and travel will see the global movement of millions of people. Retail can expect more traffic and business events will be well attended and more frequent.
In addition to the health and well-being advantages of increased social activity, this predicted increase in activity bodes well for the sign and display industry. As people move about and gather more freely, the need for visual communication increases. Here are 4 of our long-time favourites to keep using in 2023…
Whether it’s a disco or a dinner, a wedding or a work-out, these versatile displays help make a big impact on a budget, at any event. Consider trying a textile graphic for vivid color performance and ease of storage and transportation after use.
With many wide formatting printing organizations now owning UV flatbed printing technology, printing direct to rigid substrates is more common than ever. By using SmartWedge sign supports, the printed substrates can now be displayed in public spaces safely and effectively.
Our most popular product category, and with many options for good, better, and best performance levels, retractable banner stands are still widely used and for good reason. Easy to both transport and use, they provide a generous graphic area in a portable format. Whether it’s a traveling sales person, or a large convention, you’ll find these banner stands provide excellent visual impact.
Both equipment and medias are continuously improving and evolving in this space, and the use of fabric is growing. Where graphics are switched often – i.e. retail – using fabric solves the usual logistical headaches of distributing rigid substrates and bulky vinyls. And with excellent color performance, brands can feel confident of their standards being upheld.
So that’s our 4 for ’23.
There’s so much more out there (and we’d love to share that with you too!) but these products will be central to effective messaging as people resume face to face connections and travel. Effective communication drives action, and portable displays are an essential part of the toolkit in reaching an audience and facilitating meaningful interactions once more.
